Vestron
Video | Review by Dan Taylor
A
genuinely fun and creepy entry in the "stranger
in the house" genre with Gary Busey
as the slightly deranged -- and unwelcome
-- houseguest, and Mimi Rogers as the object
of his slightly askew desires.
Just out of the scooter bin
for torching his parents 15 years ago, Busey
sets up shop in the attic of a house purchased
by Rogers, Michael "Lenny" McKean,
and their two kids. Pretty soon Lenny is
exposed for the creep that he is, and Busey
goes into hulkabilly-psycho-Don-Juan overdrive
as he tries to slide into his place.
Even better than THE STEPFATHER,
with Busey perfecting the likably-demented
father-figure that Terry O'Quinn strived
for. He's scary and compassionate at the
same time, almost unresponsible for the
gruesome acts he commits. Sorta like a BAD
RONALD for the 90s.
The screenwriter (Lem Dodds)
-- who also wrote THE HARD WAY -- allegedly
disowns the finished film.
