Wishmaster (1997)
IVE Home Video | Review by Dan Taylor

It's amazing what $100 million or so can do.

Before the success of SCREAM, Wes Craven's name attached to this D-grade horror-thon would've guaranteed nothing more than a straight-to-video release. Even though he'd only served as Executive Produce, WISHMASTER somehow rode the hack-of-the-moment's name to a theatrical release.

Too bad this is simply HELLRAISER rewritten to make Pinhead an evil genie and the Satanic Rubik's Cube a cursed jewel, all mixed in with a bit of the "Monkey's Paw" legend.

A truly unmemorable stinker, WISHMASTER may only be entertaining as a communal viewing experience where fans pick out such familiar genre faces as Robert Englund, Tony Todd, Reggie Bannister (check out our interview with the man who makes the PHANTASM series rock!), Ted Raimi and the like.
